Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was the ‘Yugapurush’ (युगपुरूष) who established the people’s state. He was a ‘Rashtranirmata’ (राष्ट्रनिर्माता) . That’s why he was, is and will always be a ‘Rashtrapurush’ (राष्ट्रपुरूष). Maharaj was ‘Prajapal Daksha’ (प्रजापाल दक्ष). He himself used to travel everywhere to see the condition of the people in Swarajya. Maharaj’s orders were the laws and he took care that no one should break them. This is our ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’ as ‘the founder of Shivshahi’ and ‘the architect of Hindvi Swarajya’.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was not just a king but he was also a great guardian. Chhatrapati believed that the welfare of the people is the first duty of every ruler. Maharaj used to tell the then Deshpande (देशपांडे) and Vatandar Veer (वतनदार वीर) that ‘this swarajya is very much in the mind of the Lord’ (‘हे राज्य व्हावे हे श्रींचे मनात फार आहे’) and appeal them to participate in his concept of Swarajyasiddhi (स्वराज्यसिध्दी).
In one of the letter, Maharaj himself gave a challenge to everyone, that is,
‘हा हे खरे आहे की मी माझ्या अनेक शत्रूंना चकवा दिला आहे पण कोणीही मला फक्त एक अशी घटना सांगावी की ज्यात मी आपल्या कोणत्याही मित्र राजाला किंवा मित्रांना फसवले आहे.’
‘It is true that I have dodged many of my enemies but let anyone tell me just one instance in which I have tricked any of my friendly kings or friends.’
Still no one could accept their challenge.
