In the book Shivbharat also it is recorded that Maharaj was born on a Friday. So could Maharaj really have been born on March 1, 1630? This question has definitely come into your mind. Anyway, except for the date, other aspects are the same. But again a controversy arises regarding Maharaj’s birth year that is whether Maharaj was born in 1627 or 1630. So while shedding light on this matter, I would like to tell you that there is very less evidence that Maharaj was born in the year 1627 and there is little confusion about what evidence there are available. According to these evidences Maharaj was born on Vaishakh Mase Shukla Pakse Panchami Shaka 1549 (वैशाख मासे शुक्ल पक्षे पंचमी शके 1549) and according to the English calendar on Monday 10th April, 1627 and this date also has many differences. Because in some Bakhars Maharaj was born on Vaishakh Mase Shukla Pakshe Dwitiya Shake 1549 (वैशाख मासे शुक्ल पक्षे द्वितीया शके 1549) i.e. Thursday. Some Bakhars says that Maharaj was born in shake 1548. But many evidences are available today that prooves the birth year of Maharaj as 1630. One of the proof is that when Shahajiraje Bhosle who is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s father asked Jijamata Maharani Saheb who is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s mother, to go to Pune, at that time Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was only 12 years old and that year was 1642 AD, it means, Maharaj was born 12 years ago i.e. 1630.
Finally, the government declared 19th February as Shiv Jayanti. But now there is a dilemma that Maharaja’s birth anniversary is celebrated twice a year. Hey, why Maharaj’s birth anniversary celebrated only twice a year? So even if it was celebrated everyday it would have worked but if it was done with respect and dignity and from love. But regrets that Maharaj’s birth anniversary is celebrated twice a year with controversy.
