We all know that motherland means our ‘birthland’. In short, the place where we are born is our ‘Motherland’. But the meaning of motherland is not limited only to the land of birth. So the land that gives us food or the land that sustains us is also called ‘Matrubhumi’ i.e. Motherland. For example, a person is only born in India. But if his childhood, education, youth, work etc. all happened in abroad, the country where he lives can be called as his ‘Motherland’. Mainly in India and Nepal, Motherland is given the status of ‘Mother’. In European countries, motherland is also called as ‘fatherland’. That is, there the land is given the status of ‘Father’. In some countries, Motherland is called as ‘Grihbhumi’. That is, in such countries motherland is given the status of ‘home’. Motherland is also referred to as ‘Mayabhumi’ where ‘Maya’ means mother and ‘bhumi’ means land.
In nations, where land is given the status of mother or father or home i.e. ‘matru’ or ‘pitru’ or ‘griha’ land, a sense of brotherhood is automatically created within the residents / citizens and there automatically comes happiness, peace and prosperity. By inculcating affinity in people’s minds towards the land, it is possible to bind a society divided in the name of religion and caste into one formula and thereby succeed in establishing a political power in the nation.
Hey, what is the use of being born, educated and brought up in the motherland and using your intelligence and smartness, quality for some money or any other reasons for another nation?. Hey, if our kings had worked for others for money or selfishness, would this beautiful and heavenly Swaraj of ours have been created today? Everyone should think about it at least once. I am not saying don’t help or be friendly with other nations but how right is it to help other nations at the cost of your own nation? you should think about it by yourself.
In nations, where, the land is not considered mother or father land, it is impossible to hold the people together. So it becomes difficult to distinguish between ‘who is ours?’ and ‘who is the enemy?’ It is equally necessary to respect the land as ‘mother’ or ‘father’ to establish peace in the nation. Because people try to understand each other with the sense of brotherhood created by giving respect to the land as ‘mother’ or ‘father’ land and it automatically creates peace in the nation.
Learning or knowing the wrong history can destroy a nation and that’s why we need to teach our children the correct history. If not at all, at least it is necessary to make our children aware that this land is their mother. Also, we should tell our children about the rivers, mountains, holy places, history of kings, festivals, etc. and we should create curiosity and interest in all these in our children and this is our social duty towards our motherland. As we believe that ‘God is one’, then we should also believe on ‘we all are of one land and we all are one’. We all must have this feeling too.
In this world, we have the most favors from our Gods and our parents. So we give the status of our parents to this land. Also religious madmen consider the earth as a deity and its true. for example, parents are also god for us. That’s why Land is considered as a deity or parents are one and the same thing and giving the status of ‘mother’ or ‘father’ to the land is another formula of ‘nationality and cultural unity’ as Human comes from the soil and mixes with the soil and therefore the soil is truly our parent.
